Name: Amelia Southgate
I am on the Civil Service Finance Fast Stream, where so far I have spent a year working at the Ministry of Defence and I am currently based at HMRC in Worthing.
A little bit about your general background:
I graduated from Cambridge University in 2014, and since then have been living in Southsea with my partner.
I completed Teach First in 2017, teaching Secondary Science in Hampshire for 3 years. In 2018, I also completed a Masters in Transformational Leadership in Education. Before teaching, I spent six months working in the Education Funding Agency at the Department for Education.
Hobbies and interests –
On a personal level, my main interest is sport, particularly football. I play football for Portsmouth Women and have been the First Team captain since 2018. I am also an avid Colchester United FC supporter.
What you enjoy about the involvement with your school and how you aim to contribute/make a difference
I am interested in all aspects of education, and hope that as a governor at Redwood Park I can contribute to the future development of the school. Having seen first hand the many struggles that children growing up on the South Coast face, I am passionate about the power that education has to change this.
