Roisin Gwyer
Vice Chair of the Local Governing Body

My son, who has autism, is currently in Year 7 in the support centre at Redwood. I also have a daughter in mainstream education.  As a parent, I am keen that we are treated as partners is our children’s education.

I am a Deputy Headteacher and SENCO at a mainstream infant school in Hampshire. I am passionate about getting school right for every child, so that they are able to learn and be successful adults. I strongly believe that we should not put a ceiling on what our children and young people can achieve. It is all about finding the right way for an individual child and never giving up!

I am currently a staff governor at my own school and I have previously been a staff governor at a federated junior and infant school. I was also a parent governor at Milton Park Primary linked to the ASD resourced provision and chair of the improving standards committee. I am really looking forward to finding out more about a specialist secondary academy. I believe school governance is a vital role and I am committed to helping ensure improvement at Redwood.
