Team Redwood visited the Mountbatten Centre on Wednesday for the Portsmouth School Sports Boccia and New Age Curling tournament. 8 members of KS3 were very excited to compete and test their skills against a very strong and competitive field from across the local area.

The Boccia tournament (Soft, chair-based bowls) was a very close and competitive tournament. Many matches were only split by a few points. Both Redwood teams were very competitive with their skills improving as the matches went on. Team Year 7 fought through some tough games to claim second place overall and win a silver medal! An awesome achievement and one they are very proud of!

The New Age Curling tournament followed lunch and both Redwood teams were keen to add to the mornings winnings. The competition continued to be very close and most matches were only won by a single point. Team Year8 &9 were awarded medals for their Sportsmanship, an award that really reflected their efforts, team work and support of other competitors.

An awesome day of sport and one that Team Redwood thoroughly enjoyed. This tournament saw many of the team attend a school sports event for the first time and one that they really enjoyed. One pupil asked if he could ‘take part in a PE tournament every day. I love it so much’. The team returned full of pride and sense of team work and achievement to Redwood to share their stories and to show off their certificates and medals. Well done Team Redwood!
