Redwood have been learning about the Hindu festival of light this week – DIWALI!
It is celebrated by Hindu people all around the world and remembers the defeat of evil by the good in the world. It is also about finding the good light in all of us.
Pupils looked at images of celebrations and Hindu temples and then created their own rangoli patterns using different art materials including – pencil, crayon, coloured pasta and mosaic tiles. Pupils copied patterns and created their own, being careful to use symmetry and bright, happy colours.
In true Redwood style, the pupils finished the assembly with a group dance, led by the Key Stage 3 pupils, who had been practicing in their PE lessons. They danced to Jai Ho by the Pussycat Dolls and used a number of authentic moves that would make Bollywood proud!
