Key Stage 3 kick started the Summer Term with a day of ‘Stunning Start’ activities themed around our topic of ‘Secret Gardens’.
Up and down the Sycamore building  learners in Years 7,8 and 9 found their green fingers and developed passions for horticulture, the natural world and saving wildlife!
Cascades got the magnifying glasses out to explore and create Micro Gardens, making miniature scenes from their topic text ‘My Neighbour Totorro’.
Fratton Park got arty! Designing and decorating plant pots! They all had lots of ideas to create a colourful display, planting a wide variety of different seeds in their pots and attaching them to a decorative planter for a STUNNING display.
King's class themed their Stunning Start activities around the sun. They set up a Science experiment to explore how the sun affects how seeds grow then planted beans in plastic bags and stored some in the sun on our window and kept some in the dark in a drawer; they plan to observe the seeds during the rest of the half term to see if they grow differently.
Over in Castle class stunning pupils were busy getting their hands dirty making wildflower seed bombs to help the bees.  The group developed their gross motor skills using trowels to prepare the flower beds to plant their sunflowers which have sprung into saplings!
